Poems of Ruby Johnson 1907-1993 (my great grand-ma)

My great grand-ma Ruby wrote poems and operettas these are some of the poems she wrote. The one called "OUR GLORY" is about my awesome grand-ma, Lynnell.

QUOTATION OF MUSIC
This is the luxury of music.
It touches every key of memory and stirs all the
hidden springs of sorrow and joy.
I love it for what it helps me remember and for
what it makes me forget.

NEEDED—A TUNE
I would like to sing
The words I write,
But, I can’t find a tune.
Oh, I have rhyme, and a balanced line,
But I can’t find a tune!
I listen close to natures noises,
I search through all the children’s voices,
But I can’t sing the words I write,
‘Cause I can’t find a tune.

OUR GLORY
She wakened early this morning
And came to crawl in with us.
She has done so several times now,
She does it without any fuss.
She smiles as she touches my forehead
With a soft, warm, chubby hand,
This little lady is three now,
And she thinks the big bed is grand.

She tugs and jerks at our covers
and pulls herself up on our bed,
Then she snuggles down in the middle,
And very little is said.
Soon she’s asleep and dreaming
Of fairies, princes, and elves.
Her Daddy and I just edge over
And proudly smile to ourselves.
This is our own taste of glory
And we know that it cannot last long.
Her sweet, childish ways will vanish
She’ll grow up and mix with the throng.
Now, later, there’s a thought that is with me
As I jot down these lines with my pen.
To you who have shared this experience,
Will such glory ever end?
